Infra-Image – Cut and Paste explores how the interruption and displacement of projection light affect the conditions of image formation and its representational framework.
Mirrors were used to split and redirect a blank projection light onto two opposing walls. The paint within the illuminated areas was stripped away, exposing the underlying construction material. As a result, the two exposed surfaces, though physically separate, became visually connected, appearing as fragments of the same projected image.
This shift in light displacement caused image formation to no longer be dictated by the direct overlay of light onto a surface but by how the surfaces responded to the projection light, simulating optical traces of blurring, fragmentation, and misalignment. Instead of passively receiving illumination, the walls actively engaged in the construction of the image.
