Infra-Image – After the Image explores how images, through reproduction, influence perception and alter the state of physical objects.
The installation employs two projected light sources directed onto an exposed architectural surface. The first projection represents the material itself, turning the wall into its own representational image. The second projection no longer corresponds directly to the physical surface but instead takes the first image as its subject, producing a reproduction of the image.
As the subject of representation shifts from the physical object to the image itself, the wall adopts multiple identities—it is at once a physical surface, its own representation, and an image reproduced within the image itself. Rather than merely serving as a representation of a physical object, the image dictates how the material is perceived, causing its state of existence to shift according to the act of viewing
