Chǎng takes its name from the Chinese character 場, whose meanings encompass a place, a setting for an event, and a field in which forces act. The series brings these meanings together, understanding chǎng as an ongoing process in which relationships take shape through interaction. Bodily movement, moving images, the material structure of screens, and environmental conditions collectively constitute the chǎng of each work.
Through video and media sculpture, the series explores how media shape bodily gestures and how these gestures enter physical space through screens. As images, objects, environments, and viewers interact, chǎng continually emerges through movement and perception.
