Full-size Image – Socket uses a slide projector with an empty slide mount to cast blank light onto an existing electrical socket. Framed by the projection, the socket can be perceived simultaneously as a physical object and as its own projected image.
The work explores how projected light and acquired viewing habits shape what we recognize as an image. While the socket remains embedded in the wall as a physical object, the conditions of illumination allow it to take on an image-like presence.
